As a child, I dreamt of being:  A classical violinist

 

Starting as a pharmacy technician opened doors in healthcare that shaped my career and gave me a deep respect for the essential role technicians play in patient care. became an educator because wanted to give back by equipping the next generation with the knowledge, confidence, and professionalism needed to thrive in pharmacy practice.
Watching students gain confidence and transition into their careers is the most rewarding part of my work. I enjoy teaching pharmacy law and regulations. While it's often viewed as a challenging subject, I love breaking it down into real-world scenarios that show why compliance, ethics, and safety standards matter so much in practice.

I joined PTEC because I believe in the power of collaboration and community to elevate the pharmacy technician profession. My advice to anyone interested in becoming an educator is that you need patience, creativity, and empathy to meet students where they are. Draw from your own professional experience, be open to lifelong learning, and never underestimate the power of encouragement.

Tiffany Kofroth, CPhT-Adv, CSPT, PhTR

Meet one of the newest members of the PTEC Leadership Committee: Tiffany Kofroth, CPhT-Adv! Tiffany will be serving as a Member-at-Large. She earned her PTCB CPhT Certification in 2002, CSPT in 2018, and CPhT-Adv in 2022. Tiffany has been practicing as a pharmacy technician for over 26 years and is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies at the University of Texas.
 
Within her current position, she serves as an instructor of the initial sterile compounding certification program for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, a subject matter expert for sterile compounding, and creates continuing education activities for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians within the Division of Pharmacy.
As a volunteer with PTCB, Tiffany has served in multiple capacities: as a content expert for several PTCB credentials, including the CSPT, Technician Product Verification Exam, Controlled Substance Exam, and finally served as the Lead Subject Matter Expert for the Hazardous Drug Management Exam. She actively serves as a subject matter expert with the Gulf Coast Society of Health-System Pharmacists and nationally with the ASHP.

Kevin Kestner, CPhT-Adv

 

Meet Kevin Kestner, CPhT-Adv, a Multi-Skilled Health Instructor at South-Western Career Academy in Grove City, Ohio. With 17 years of teaching experience, Kevin has made a significant impact through his passion for pharmacy technician education. He chose this path to meet community needs and enhance his program, particularly enjoying teaching pharmacy software, medications, and compounding. 
 
Kevin advises future educators to be patient and adaptable, recognizing that students' understanding varies. PTEC has provided him with a supportive community and valuable resources, and he looks forward to the upcoming conference for further learning. Kevin values the feedback from former students about how his program changed their careers and cherishes surprises like a birthday party from his students and their national recognition at SkillsUSA.
 
Outside the classroom, Kevin dreams of revisiting Western Europe and fondly remembers his favorite concert with Billy Joel and Elton John. With no pets, he would teach history if not pharmacy, inspired by his time in Europe.

The most fulfilling aspect of her role is the excitement in her students' voices when they call to share their success after passing their certification exams.

Chelsea's advice for aspiring pharmacy technician educators:
